The Ouachita County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the professional care and custody of those confined in our jail, the security of our courts and the prompt investigation of crime when it occurs. Sheriff David Norwood

Sheriff Norwood started his career with the Ouachita County Sheriff's Department in 1982 as a Dispatcher/Jailer. Soon after he started a new role as a Deputy Sheriff. With many years of experience Norwood was elected as Sheriff in 2009 and has been the longest standing Sheriff in our county.
